You’re probably well aware that we’re all about the elopements here at Wee Wild Weddings, but did you know that we also do micro weddings too? If you fancy getting wed in front of up to ten nearest and dearest then we are your people!
Clair and Paul are very much our people, this laidback pair got married in front of their families, with an amazing Kilchurn Castle backdrop. One of our favourite Scottish spots. Castles, lochs and mountains. There’s nothing better!
MICRO WEDDING AT KILCHURN CASTLE
The Ben Cruachan Inn is a quaint little pub in Lochawe Village, nestled at the foot of Ben Cruachan. Clair and Paul got ready there that morning, in one of the pretty stunning Garden Apartments with views out over Loch Awe.
After some kerfuffle with his tie (standard groom faff there, it’s always hilarious to photograph!) Paul and the family all set off on the short stroll over to Kilchurn Castle viewing point. Closely followed by Clair and her lovely, very smiley Dad.
Kilchurn Castle is such a brilliant spot, especially the field we use for Wee Wild Wedding ceremonies which gives the best view of the castle ruins overlooking Loch Awe. Everything about this viewing point is ace, from the two spindly trees to the backdrop of mountains and the resident sheep. Those sheep, incidentally, are now so used to us pottering about there that they don’t even give us a second glance anymore. They’ve got zero curiosity about the humans, dressed in fancy clothes, who traipse through their field.

Clair and Paul looked so cool as they stood together, they’re just so chilled out. Clair especially has been super relaxed throughout the whole wedding planning, in the best possible way she could not give a shit, which is completely the attitude to have. The bonus of having a Wee Wild Wedding is that you really can give way less of a shit because there are way less things to go wrong. Less guests, less drama. We’re all about having a good, chilled out attitude, because if something does go wrong (unlikely, but y, know) then it just doesn’t matter. Having said all that, nothing went wrong and it was an all round ace day. So Clair had adopted the perfect attitude and all was good.
The ceremony was super lovely, there was a handfasting, they drank from the Quaich and there were some mega cheers (and an absolutely superb whistle) at the end when they were pronounced as newly weds. We love our elopements but there was something so nice about seeing a handful of loved ones rooting for our couple. And it’s always handy to have some extra people there to chuck confetti.
After some group photos we sent the fam back up the Ben Cruachan Inn, meaning Clair and Paul could have some alone time and get some photographs together.
The whole gang then went on to the Dalmally Community Gardens where Scottish Wild Picnics had laid on a spread and a half. The wee tables looked fab, with so many of the little touches that they always do so well. Before they tucked in, and with a glass of fizz in hand, we whisked Clair and Paul down to the epic bridge for a few more pictures before leaving them to enjoy their feast.
