“Marry your biggest cheerleader.” That’s my sage wedding advice. Heather and Stuart got in touch with Wee Wild Weddings because my lovely husband had been raving about my endeavours to his work colleagues. Heather overheard and realised she wanted to elope! She and Stuart were sick of waiting for restrictions to ease so thought “Screw COVID and screw waiting to get married” and reached out to us.
Heather and Stuart went for a Loch Lomond micro wedding. You can’t get much more Scottish than a wedding on the bonny bonny banks of Loch Lomond with Ben Lomond in the background. They’d chosen Firkin Point for their celebrations which is a gorgeous little beach area. It’s so pretty and their dog loved it, all that space to play!
Stuart and his guys arrived early and hung out on the beach until Heather, their little girl Fiadh, and Heather’s Dad arrived. All the guests made their way down to the beach while Stuart and Heather had a first look. They were so, so happy to see each other!
Fiadh was the most adorable flower girl. Her little bunny, who goes everywhere with her, was perfectly coordinated with the bridesmaid’s dresses so was declared an honorary bridesmaid for the day. Fiadh was over the moon with that! She loved her very special flower wand which super florist Mel had made for her.
The sun was shining but just as Heather walked onto the beach with her Dad the rain started! Luckily it was typical Scottish rain, the brollies went up and 30 seconds later they went back down again when the sun came back out! That’s how Scotland rolls!
Stuart and his brother are both pipers and Stuart’s brother piped Heather down the aisle towards Stuart. It was a really lovely moment and I know how much it meant to them to have him play. The ceremony was beautiful. There were seven of their closest family and friends watching, along with Fiadh, bunny, and their dog of course! They’d chosen to have a handfasting during the ceremony – a real Celtic tradition where the couple tie their hands together to symbolise the binding of their two lives.
As soon as the ceremony was over the confetti came out, Heather’s Dad was so excited and threw handfuls over the couple to Fiadh’s utter delight. She was slightly less taken by the champagne spray, I don’t blame her. Stuart was very enthusiastic and Fiadh didn’t want any on her dress!
We pottered around on the beach enjoying the weather and taking some photos. Firkin Point is such a beautiful part of Scotland, we wanted to make the most of it. Then it was time for Heather and Stuart to head home and party. They were holding a big old celebration back at their house for a garden picnic and then dancing the night away with a load of family and friends. Amazing!
