Alex & Gordon had a Scottish Mini Wedding at Monachyle Mhor with a beautiful lochside ceremony under a floral arch!

"Thank you so much all of you! It was so much more than I had dared to hope - a dream come true ❤️ We are just packing up and leaving MM after such a magical time. We will always be so thankful to have found you, and to have had our perfect day. Thank you always! Mr and Mrs King xxxxx "

I think Alex and Gordon might be the happiest couple I’ve ever met. They were so overjoyed to be getting married and couldn’t have been more excited for their Scottish mini wedding at Monachyle Mhor.

These two are highschool sweethearts (adorable!) and held their ceremony on the banks of the loch in front of nine of their closest friends. It was just the best day and super emotional.

As you’ve probably realised, we’re big fans of Monachyle Mhor here at Wee Wild Weddings. It’s the dream elopement spot with a stunning loch, super cool boutique hotel, and incredible views of the Scottish mountains.

As their friends gathered on the shores of Loch Voil, Alex and Gordon met for a first look. I thought they were both going to explode with happiness when they saw each other, and then Gordon spotted Alex’s red Dr Martens (the perfect match for his burgundy shoes). His grin got even bigger! It wasn’t just Alex who had gone all out on the details though, Gordon was super proud of his Sgian Dubh which had a handle made from old bagpipes. He’s a piper so it was a really special piece.

Obviously, with Gordon being a piper Jonny, our WWW piper, was feeling the pressure as he piped them both down to the loch! He absolutely nailed it though, we knew he would!

Just before the ceremony, Alex gave her mum a call. She told her it was about to happen and they both burst into tears. Then I started crying and before we knew it everyone in the room was shedding a happy tear or two. And that wasn’t the end of the emotion, oh no! As Alex and Gordon arrived on the shores of the loch their friends started crying with joy. I don’t blame them, these two are so lovely and the loch was so beautiful it was just the best moment. Mel, our wonderful florist, had built the most incredible colourful floral arch and Gordon and Alex were able to stand in a totally unique spot on the loch shore. The tide was out which so rarely happens. They’re the only wedding we’ve had who were able to hold their ceremony on that spot. The weather was beautiful, as it always seems to be at Monachyle Mhor. We like to tell couples all the sunshine is down to us (it’s not, but we like to pretend…).

Now, ahead of the ceremony, Gordon told me he was hard as nails and absolutely wouldn’t be crying at any point. You might spot a photo where he gets a wee bit emotional. It was just as their friends were reading out letters from their parents. The words were so beautiful and I’m not surprised Gordon shed a tear. We all did!

Post ceremony we all headed back up to the lawn for an epic confetti moment. We had canons, we had colour, we had all the laughter. And the confetti was biodegradable. What a win!

Scottish Wild Picnics had put on their usual epic spread. Homemade pies, Scotch eggs, fruit, and a cute wee cake. We left them all enjoying the picnic and having a good old catch-up together.
