Woodland Wedding Scotland with Epic Scenery & Treehouses
Imagine leaving the kids and the dog at home so you can head away for a few days, enjoy some Scottish woods and get married! Living the dream!
Well, that’s exactly what Chloe and Hayden did back in February. They even got the most gloriously wintery February day for it. Lucky!
Outdoor Elopement, Scotland
Chloe and Hayden travelled up from Northern England – sans kids and dog – to stay at the Treehouses in Lanrick.
This place is idyllic, it’s like something from a fairytale. Five treehouses are nestled amongst the trees in a private woodland just outside the Trossachs National Park. It’s peaceful, serene and just so tranquil, plus outdoor bathtubs. Super cool!
Chloe is in the wedding industry herself – she’s a fab makeup artist – and had chosen the most gorgeous, intricately detailed dress for their day. She looked amazing. Hayden was grinning from ear to ear when he saw her. They had the cutest first look out in front of their treehouse. Both of them just burst into nervous giggles and they couldn’t stop hugging. Love it!
Treehouses at Lanrick Wedding
From the treehouses we all walked to a spot they’d chosen within the woodland. It was just the two of them, plus me on photo duties and James on video. We were multitasking that day and acting as witnesses too. What a super skilled team we are!
Before I get into the joys of the ceremony there is the funniest story to tell you all. Midway through the ceremony James sidles over to me and whispers “Is Hayden a dog walker?”
I gave him the most incredulous side eye, and wondered why the heck he was bringing this up halfway through a beautiful elopement. Surely we’ve all got better things to be thinking about right now?!
Next thing I know, James is motioning in the direction of Chloe and Hayden and there are three dogs running, full pelt, towards them.
It was at that point I realised his actual words had been “Here comes a dog walker!”
Time slowed down as we all watched those dogs thundering towards us and a poor dog walker trying desperately to catch them up! Luckily those three pups were the cutest wedding crashers of all time. They made a beeline for Chloe and Hayden who, as luck would have it, are dog people. Phew!
Chaos ensued. The dog walker was shouting “Juicy! Juicy! Nooooooooooooo!” at the most boisterous dog while we all collapsed in fits of laughter. If you’ve ever seen the viral Fenton clip then you know what I’m talking about! Best ceremony moment of all time!
After a few moments of tangled leads, giddy dogs and a mortified dog walker it was back to the ceremony. Chloe and Hayden had written the sweetest vows, Hayden’s was a beautiful poem. It was such a lovely moment to witness for them.
Winter Wedding Portraits
After the ceremony we went for a wander in the woods. The day ended with a champagne spray on the bridge – always an epic moment – and a picnic in a quaint riverside fishing hut. Shout out to Scottish Wild Picnics for their brilliance.
In Hayden’s words “Oh my god! We just got fucking married!”
Yes you did my friends, and you did it in style! Here are some favourites from the day.
