Wedding With Children: Eloping With Kids in Scotland
Nicole & Steven - Loch Lomond
"I could not rate the Wee Wild Weddings team highly enough! Everything ran so smoothly from start to finish. It was the most relaxing wedding planning experience ever and even on the day the team kept everything very calm and relaxed.
Everything was just perfect, so personal and suited us to a T. My only regret is that we had to come home and I wish we could do it all over again. Thank you, you are all amazing!."

Is It Possible to Get Married With a Baby or Young Children?
Is it possible to elope with young kids? Will it still feel like an ultra awesome, kinda romantic day when you’ve got your wee ones running around with you?
Yes!
Nicole and Steven showed just how great it can be. They had a super cute elopement at Loch Lomond, just the two of them and their three kids.
Loch Lomond Elopement With Children
Nicole and Steven know Loch Lomond well. They live just down the road in Clydebank and the loch was the ideal place for their wee wedding. It holds a lot of lovely memories for their family and getting married there would just make it even more special.
They were staying in a cottage just next to Cashel Campsite, an idyllic spot on the shores of the loch. The views are amazing and the very lovely campsite owners let us hold the ceremony down on their beach. What a win!
We started the day at the cottage, and had assembled an incredible team for Nicole and Steven. Lesley was on hair and makeup duties and our ace videographer James would be livestreaming the ceremony to their family and friends.
Speaking of our fab team, we are all on hand throughout the day to help out anywhere and everywhere. Especially when young children are involved. That morning Lesley was helping one of the wee girls get her shoes on ahead of the ceremony and everyone pitched in where needed to keep the kids entertained, fed and warm! It’s a family affair here and we all want you to have the very best day. If your family are joining you for your elopement then they become our family too.
A Lochside Wedding Ceremony With Kids in the Trossachs
It was a short walk down to the shore from the cottage. The clouds were amazing, very dramatic which looked awesome against the backdrop of mountains, forest and the peaceful waters of Loch Lomond. The rain from that morning cleared just in time for the ceremony and there were some beautiful rainbows over the loch. Much to everyone’s delight. The girls had flower wands which were blowing about in the wind and their wee boy was loving his very cool wee monocle attached to his waistcoat. Very Sherlock Holmes!
The ceremony was super cute. All five of them stood together at the shoreline, and there wasn’t a dry eye amongst us when their son did a sweet reading. The ceremony ended with a gigantic family hug and bubbles before they each added coloured sand to an hourglass.
A unity sand ceremony is a really lovely, touching ritual. Especially when children are involved. Each family member pours coloured sand from separate containers into a single glass vase, tube, hourglass or other vessel. It symbolises the blending of lives into one, inseparable unit with the different colours representing each family member.
Eloping as a Family in Scotland
Post ceremony it was getting a wee bit chilly, so James put the kids in his car to warm up while Nicole and Steven wandered along the banks of the loch for some portraits. The lovely Jean and Shirley from Scottish Wild Picnics kept the kids entertained and happy, meaning Mum and Dad could relax and spend a bit of time together.
Then it was back to the cottage where their luxury picnic had been laid out in front of the fire for them all. We love the addition of a very special kids’ table covered in Tunnocks Teacakes, Scottish Tablet and cookies. The perfect end to the perfect family day.
