Secret Wedding Venues: A Culdees Castle Wedding in Scotland

CULDEES CASTLE WEDDING SCOTLAND
Buckle up Wee Wild Wedding fans, today sees the beginning of a series of posts letting you in on some of Scotland’s very best kept secrets.
Your intrepid WWW duo – that’s us, Cat and Sarah – have been on a tour of unique elopement locations all across Scotland. These are the places that are off the beaten track, where not many people (if any!) have got married.
So if you’re looking for somewhere amazing to say your vows then read on. This is your chance to get in there first and put your own stamp on the place!
Elopements at Culdees Castle, Scotland
Fans of home improvement TV may very well have heard of Culdees Castle. Back in 2022 Tracey and Rob were the stars of Channel 4’s Renovation Nation. The show documented the trials and tribulations of their ambitious renovation project as they worked to restore the castle to its former glory.
As you can probably imagine, a castle renovation is not a quick (or easy!) process to undertake, so the castle is still somewhat of a ruin – but what a ruin! It’s super cool. If you’re planning an elopement in Scotland then it has everything you need – old castle? Check! Hoards of animals? Check! Accommodation? Check! Epic landscapes? Check!
Tracey and Rob live next door, and whilst there is still a long way to go they’ve already made huge progress and have been able to open the castle to weddings already. They’re a brilliant pair, and have offered us two things that rarely ever happen…brace yourselves…
Exclusive use for elopements and a Plan B indoor location!
WE KNOW!
These are two mega offerings. Especially the indoor location. Trust us, this is the thing that every couple is looking for. Now Culdees Castle is giving us not one, but two chances to take shelter from that unpredictable Scottish weather. Option one, is to get married in The Courtyard, with its stone walls and big greenhouse style roof. Basically, you still feel like you’re outside but you’re fully sheltered. What a win.
If you’re after somewhere with a load of history and stunning original features then The Chapel might just be the spot for you. There’s less of an outdoorsy feel but what a cool place to say your promises to each other!
Of course, these are the indoor locations, if you want to brave the weather, or the sun is shining, then you can get married absolutely anywhere out in the grounds.
Glamping accommodation for elopements, Perthshire
Not only do you have an old castle – and when we say old we mean old. The land Culdees Castle stands on was gifted to the Drummonds after their clan chief’s son fought alongside Robert the Bruce at the battle of Bannockburn. Some seven centuries ago. The first foundation stone of the castle was laid in the early 1800s, taking the place of the monastery that had stood there for hundreds of years.
So, yes. A pretty darn old castle. Plus a load of animals, goats, ducks, peacocks, sheep, cows and you’ve even got fancy glamping on site too. The lodges are something else. All designed to fit in with the surrounding landscape they’re unique, private and have amazing views. Throw in some BBQs, fire pits, hot tubs and wild deer…well, that sounds like a dream place to stay!
And, for your elopement prep, Culdees have got you covered. You can get ready together in your lodge, or head into the castle itself and use The Powder Room, super handy and a fab place to get ready pre ceremony.
Unique wedding venue, Scotland
Culdees is super cool. We literally cannot stress this enough. Once the renovations are done and the castle is fully opened it’s going to be one of the most popular wedding venues in Scotland. So get in there quick.
