"To everyone at Wee Wild Weddings - We just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of hearts for everything you have done for us. The day was perfect and we don't think even if we did it again we would change any part of it as we loved every moment of it. All of you were kind, understanding and a lot of fun and all of you made everything easy for us. We weren't sure where to begin in getting this wedding organised and you made what could of been one of the most stressful days of our lives surprisingly stress free and into one of our happiest. Meet Fiona and Matt, who are so much fun to hang out with. We loved planning their elopement with them and the day was just amazing from start to finish.
It was our first time at the Treehouses at Lanrick and we cannot wait to go back. This place is just so special. It’s the most stunning woodland, on the banks of the River Teith and bordering the Trossachs National Park. Literally the most perfect spot. The Treehouses are super nice and so cool. They’ve even got an outdoor bathtub! And central heating (essential in Scotland, whatever time of year you go away!) There’s outdoor decking to chill out on and they’re uber stylish inside. Basically the Treehouses are ideal for a minimoon, weekend away to escape from it all…or an elopement. Which is where we come in.
Woodland Micro Wedding Scotland
Matt and Fiona’s ceremony took place in a little woodland clearing. It was so magical. And made even more magical by our bride looking like Merida from Brave. Seriously, Fiona is just an actual Disney Princess. One of the cool ones obviously.
There’s an awesome rustic arch in the middle of the clearing, and our Mel decorated it with gorgeous florals. After a very lovely and sweet first look Matt made his way up to the ceremony site with their guests while Fiona and her Dad strolled over there together. There was slightly misty rain falling throughout the day but honestly, Fiona and Matt just didn’t give a shit! They refused to stand under an umbrella during the ceremony and Fiona was not going to cover up her amazing dress with a shawl. No way! Their attitude was, we’re outside, we’re in Scotland. We’ll deal with it. This really was a wee wild wedding! Luckily we were in the woodland so the rain wasn’t super noticeable anyway and it kept stopping and starting throughout the day. We love how they just didn’t care though!
Claire the Humanist led their ceremony, and it was an emotional one. Fiona and Matt were getting married in front of their families and there were a lot of happy tears during the ceremony. After the ceremony there was a load of hugs. And laughter. All the good stuff basically! We thrive off hugs and emotion here at Wee Wild Weddings!
Elopements at the Treehouses, Lanrick
Once Fiona and Matt were all hugged out it was time to have a quick drink from the quaich before heading out for some photos. Not familiar with a quaich? It’s a traditional two handled Scottish cup. It symbolises sharing between the couple and throughout history it has been used by two clans to celebrate a bond and mark the blending of two families.
Anyway, that’s enough of a history lesson for you, it’s time for those portraits with Fiona and Matt. These two are just flipping gorgeous. We spent most of the time in the woods before taking a walk down by the river. We found a random cave covered in shells which was pretty cool before making our way over to an fisherman’s hut which Scottish Wild Picnics had transformed into the Picnic Hut of Dreams. It looked so good and the spread they’d laid on was incredible. If you look closely at the photos you might catch a glimpse of James the videographer drooling over the culinary delights!
What an amazing day, we have well and truly fallen in love with the Treehouses at Lanrick and are so looking forward to our next elopement there.
