Bright & Whimsical Kilchurn Castle Wedding on the Shores of Loch Awe

Steven & Megan eloped on the shores of the breathtaking Loch Awe!

"WOW!!! So much joy! We just want to say thank you so so so much for all the work that went into making our wedding day absolutely perfect! We had the best time!!! Lots of love! The new Mr. & Mrs. Bryce"

Come with us to the shores of Loch Awe for this stunning Kilchurn Castle Wedding. Locations like this take our breath away and remind us that Scotland is a hell of a place to get married.

Scottish Steven and Megan – who is from America – live in Vienna together but had travelled back to Scotland to get married with just five of their nearest and dearest.

Kilchurn Castle is just epic. It’s not one of the most photographed castles in Scotland for nothing! It looked so dramatic on Steven and Megan’s wedding day, the weather was amazing, super sunny but with clouds on the hills. Pretty much textbook Scottish weather!

The ceremony took place on the shores of Loch Awe with Kilchurn Castle in the background. Mel at Briar Rose Designs had created an incredible floral arch as a backdrop, it looked so, so good! We can’t think of a more perfect ceremony location, everything was just perfect.

The first moment Steven set eyes on Megan was pretty darn emotional. He was looking out towards the loch before turning to see her walk towards him, escorted by his son. He was so proud of himself for walking down with his step mum!

Gail Brack led the intimate ceremony which ended with a traditional handfasting with two different tartans, then it was time for confetti! Megan laughed hysterically as she took a handful of confetti to the face and we are huge fans of Steven’s “YES! We just got married!” face.

Even at a small elopement, a newlywed couple need a bit of time alone together, so we sent the family off while Steven, Megan and I hung around to get some pictures. After making the most of the most awesome (ha!) location at the Loch we went over to Kilchurn Castle itself for a few more photos, and to meet the Highland Coos! There was no one around, the castle was closed and absolutely deserted which made for some pretty perfect pictures. Scotland is so important to Steven so it was amazing to show off the very best of this country in his wedding photos.

Back at their accommodation, everyone had gathered to greet Megan and Steven and enjoy an amazing picnic with them. They had a guitarist there to serenade everyone and play their first dance, which everyone then joined in with. Such a sweet moment. Also, check out Steven’s son stepping in as a wedding photographer’s assistant during the first dance! Super cute!
