An Epic Dress & Champagne Sprays - Monachyle Mhor Elopement Wedding

Katie & Jordan eloped at the epic Monachyle Mhor with a beautiful lochside ceremony!

"Aaaaaaargh! OMG! The biggest THANKYOU ever to each and everyone one of you who helped make our day absolutely amazing. It was the absolute bomb you are all superstars. We couldn’t have hoped for a better day! Katie & Jordan xxxx"

What do you do when you’re engaged, COVID hits and you’re unable to travel home to Australia to get married? You head on up to Scotland and elope of course!

Well, you do if you’re Katie and Jordan and we can’t say we blame them. They were heartbroken when they realised they wouldn’t be able to be with their families for their wedding. They’d already had to reschedule a few times and just couldn’t wait to be married. There was nothing else for it, it was time for Wee Wild Weddings to step in!

The title of this blog post says it all, Katie’s Made With Love Bridal dress was epic! We absolutely adored it. Made With Love Bridal are an Australian company so it was like Katie had a little bit of home with her on the day, which we loved. Mel at Briar Rose Design had, as ever, done an incredible job with the flowers and Katie looked fantastic in her floral crown. Jordan didn’t look too bad himself! He was very dapper in his blue suit complete with a tartan bow tie.

They were both keen for a low key day, a day to celebrate the two of them. The sun was shining and it was beautifully warm. They were nervous, as most couples are, but as soon as they set eyes on each other for their first look huge smiles lit up their faces and you could just see them relax. We love a first look here. It just helps ease those pre-ceremony nerves and gives couples a chance to take a moment together.

It’s never a surprise to us when couples travel hundreds of miles to elope in Scotland, there really is no better place on earth to get married. As we strolled down to the lochside, led by a piper, Katie and Jordan were in awe of their surroundings. Monachyle Mhor is simply stunning. Set at the foot of some incredible Scottish mountains the surrounding landscape is ever changing and beautiful. Quick shout out to Katie for being an absolute star at crossing the rickety bridge in her heels. It’s all part of the adventure!

The ever so lovely Claire led their lochside Humanist ceremony, the setting is so tranquil. The water is so peaceful and the only sound was of the waves gently lapping at the shore. Katie and Jordan had been keen to incorporate Scottish traditions into their ceremony and had a handfasting with colourful ribbons. Katie had brought along a wee tartan blanket to wrap around her but it wasn’t needed (except for photos!). They’d obviously heard some terrible rumours about Scottish weather! Ha!

We rounded off the elopement with some photos back up at Monachyle Mhor and then made our way over to their wedding picnic. Before they sat down to eat it was time for the champagne spray. Jordan had been so looking forward to this! After some swigs of fizz he picked Katie up and spun her around. It made her dress look super cool, top idea Jordan!

What a day! Here’s to this amazing couple, congratulations!
