COULD IT BE ANY MORE ROMANTIC TO Elope IN Scotland BY Castle RUINS?

DANIELLE & LUKE - KILCHURN CASTLE, ARGYLL
"A huge thank you for making our ‘wee wedding’ so perfect. The whole process has been so stress free and enjoyable. Every detail of our day was perfect from start to finish. Thank you team for such a wonderful day! " - Danielle & Luke
ELOPE SCOTLAND CASTLE
Could it be any more romantic to elope to scotland by castle ruins? Think Scotland, think castles. Think epic landscapes, huge lochs and towering mountains. Think elopement…think adventure!
Ok, it’s all getting a bit “Choose Life” above (hey, another Scottish icon!) so enough of that. Let’s crack on with Danielle and Luke’s lovely, wee elopement on the banks of Loch Awe.
Intimate elopement at Kilchurn Castle
When we say wee elopement, we mean this was a wee elopement. That morning it was just Danielle and Luke, hanging out at the amazing St Conan’s Escape. Nestled into the side of Ben Cruachan, with epic views out over Loch Awe, the lodge is idyllic. Danielle and Luke’s wee dog Lacey thought so too, she spent the morning lounging on the terrace and soaking up the sunshine.
Danielle and Luke managed to avoid each other that morning, no mean feat, and were able to have a very cute first look outside the lodge. Lacey got in on the action too, making sure she got plenty of cuddles and tummy tickles. Look at how adorable her bridal collar and lead were! “My humans are getting married” Yeah they are!
Their wedding ceremony took place at Kilchurn Castle Viewpoint, a secluded spot just across the water from the castle. Even the stroll over there was beautiful, across wee bridges and a field full of curious sheep. Then it was time to get married.
Colleen (fab hair and makeup artist) and I (your resident Wee Wild Weddings super snapper) were multitasking. We were the witnesses! Of course Lacey was there too, but she’s a dog. We might be very chilled about weddings in Scotland but we’re not quite at the point where we have canine witnesses. Yet.
Epic photoshoot at Loch Awe
For their post wedding luxury picnic Danielle and Luke had wanted somewhere quiet, beautiful and ideal for pottering around with Lacey. We knew the perfect spot, Dalmally Community Gardens. Or to give it its full title – Glenorchy and Innishail Community Orchard and Wild Woodland Garden.
This place is a real hidden gem, it’s a wee oasis of calm. Loads of greenery, a river with a stony shore and a cool old bridge. The ideal spot for photos, chilling out and eating the excellent grub provided by Scottish Wild Picnics. An awesome end to an awesome day.
Eloping at Loch Awe
Thinking of eloping in Scotland? Loch Awe is a pretty amazing place to say your vows. Not to confuse you, but Loch Awe is the name of the loch and of the village that sits on its banks. There are mountains galore, stunning kirks (St Conan’s is our favourite), ruined castles including the infamous Kilchurn Castle (one of the most photographed castles in Scotland fact fans) and uninhabited islands. It’s like something out of a Famous Five book!
There’s so much to explore that couples tend to head out there to elope – it’s 90 minutes North West of Glasgow – and then stay on for a few days and make a minimoon out of it.
Here at Wee Wild Weddings we like to think we know a lot about Loch Awe. We come out this way a lot and spend a lot of time pottering around the area, finding new places and checking out local activities. All in the name of creating the perfect Scottish elopement. It’s a tough old job eh!
