Idyllic Argyll Micro Wedding at Loch Eck

Tamzin & Neils Idyllic Argyll Micro Wedding
"Thank you all a million times over! I had a quick peak at the photos and they look so beautiful and stunning. Thank you for being amazing!" Tamzin & Neil
Are you ready for a wee wild adventure? Tamzin and Neil’s October Argyll micro wedding was, to date, our wildest wedding yet. There was wind, there was rain, our gazebo nearly went for a swim in Loch Eck…but it’s all part of the fun right!
Tamzin and Neil are the sweetest couple. They were so excited for their autumnal lochside wedding and were certainly not going to let a bit of rain dampen their spirits. They refused brollies for the ceremony and were absolute troopers. Our kind of couple!

They both got ready at the Whistlefield Inn, a traditional Scottish drover’s inn just outside Dunoon. The log fires were roaring away and it was so warm and welcoming inside. The Inn overlooks Loch Eck and we kept glancing out the window at the choppy waters, crossing our fingers that the worst of the wind and rain would pass over before we made our way to the ceremony. Luckily by the time Tamzin stepped outside for a first look with her parents the wildest weather seemed to be over…or so we thought!
It was a super cute first look with Mum and Dad. They were both beaming with pride and gave each other a big old family hug. Next up it was time for Tamzin and Neil to see each other. There were tears, mainly from Tamzin but I’m sure I saw Neil wiping his eyes as he saw his bride. I don’t blame him, she looked absolutely beautiful.

We walked down to the lochside, Jubilee Point, and met up with the rest of their families and Caroline, our lovely celebrant. Even though Jubilee Point is pretty sheltered it was still super windy and pretty hard to hear the ceremony at times. I am assured that Tamzin and Neil could hear everything Caroline said and they are indeed married. Phew! Caroline loves making sure that each ceremony is personal to the couple. Whether that’s with a handfasting, their own vows or any other traditions (or non traditions) they want to include. Tamzin and Neil went for a handfasting (Caroline made sure the knot was firmly tied. We didn’t want that tartan ribbon blowing off into the loch!) and said some very cute and funny vows to each other.
Wedding Portraits at Loch Eck
Straight after the ceremony Tamzin and Neil were engulfed in hugs from their families. Everyone was so over the moon for the two of them. I found a sheltered spot and we did some confetti before quickly taking some family photos. After more gigantic hugs their families headed back to Dunoon and left Tamzin and Neil to enjoy the rest of the afternoon together.
Argyll is such a great spot for portraits. There are loads of nice places around Dunoon and the Cowal Peninsula, everywhere looked incredible with the autumnal colours. We could’ve spent ages exploring and getting some pictures of the two of them but I didn’t want to keep Tamzin and Neil out in the rain for too long. They were superstars and didn’t care about the downpours but I knew they had an amazing Wee Wild picnic waiting for them back by the loch. No one wants to miss that!
Mini Wedding Scotland
Our picnic fairies, Scottish Wild Picnics, had been busy setting up the gazebo down on the shores of the loch. It looked so snug and cosy in there and the spread was, as ever, so, so good. It was the perfect opportunity for Tamzin and Neil to spend some time together, just the two of them, before meeting up with their families again later. Neil popped the champagne and as they settled down to eat the wind got up again. The gazebo nearly took off! Luckily Shirley and Jean sprang into action and held onto the gazebo to stop it flying off into the loch. They are heroes!
Whatever the weather, whatever is thrown at us, we can handle it here at Wee Wild Weddings. With a whole host of winter micro weddings coming up we have a feeling that we’ve got a few more wild adventures ahead of us!
